Turning into a vegetable state..

A Vegetable State

The A Team has been training together for a few weeks and each week I offer a Challenge which includes a nutritional goal and a physical goal.  This week, I am going to offer the Challenge to every employee in our school system.

Nutritional Goal-It seems like such a simple thing "eat your veggies" but during the winter we sometimes fail to take care of our nutritional needs in the area of veggies.  So, this week, starting Monday-February 17, the challenge is to return to a vegetable state-so to speak.  I'm calling on all cooks out there to help us out.  If you have a good recipe for something including veggies, sans cheesy fries, please share and I will be sure to include your recipe in our blog.

Physical Goal-5 minutes of Common Core and I'm not talking about curriculum here.  Your Common Core workout includes the following:
  • 1 minute=High knees (marching or jogging in place)
  • 1 minute=Sit-ups (knees bent, feet flat, start with arms fully extended overhead on floor and "throw" hands forward for momentum to touch floor outside your feet at midpoint of sit-up then back down to floor
  • 1 minute=Plank position, forearms on floor, back straight, and on your toes.
  • 1 minute=Side plank (right side)
  • 1 minute=Side plank (left side)

If you complete the Challenge (nutritional and physical goal) your name goes in to our weekly selection process.
See this link for an example of the selection process:

Congrats to SCES for winning the trophy last week.

HHS SCORES 500 PATRIOT POINTS!

500 POINT WEEK for HHS

The HHS Team had a record breaking performance in last week's PPC.  500 points is a new record for the high school team.  Great job!  The trophy will be sitting with Ms. Moss at the front foyer of HHS due to the 68 employees at HHS who posted points.

Individual success=Team success.  Post those points.

Be careful out there as we once again prepare for a potential snow/ice event.  As I tallied the results from the Patriot Point Challenge, I noticed one employee who included Snowmageddon in the event column.  I couldn't agree more!!!

This week will include Mercedes Marathon.  Good luck to all of the participants and a special shout out to the Patriot Partners running teams.

There is "SNOW" way you didn't score Patriot Points this week.

Genie Christian is ready for the Sochi Olympics!
Rick walked to HDS, rescued his son and continued his journey to Bluff Park.

Rebecca walked from HHS to somewhere down Hwy 280, 11 miles!
Phillip found a sled and SCES made the best of their spend the night party!

Many of these HMS teachers walked home after a quick pic

Snow ball fights, walking in the snow, shoveling snow.  I am sure we will have lots of Patriot Points this week.  Congrats to HMS who won the trophy last week.  Percent of employee participation was used to break the tie between HHS and HMS.  Every point is important and every person who posts is critical for team success.  Join The Movement, post those Patriot Points and Keep Moving!
