The total mileage of our finishers was equal to 2.75 trips from California to New York.  The competition started with 76 employees.  When the challenge was completed on Oct. 31st the High Steppers at each school/worksite were the following:

HBOE=Patti Atkinson 120.2 miles, 3.9 miles per day

Hall Kent= Vanessa Parks 137.7 miles, 4.4 miles per day

Homewood Middle=Christi Martin 196.2 miles, 6.3 miles per day

Edgewood= Christa Webb 248 miles, 8.0 miles per day

Homewood High=Laeri Boyd 339.7 miles, 10.96 per day

Shades Cahaba=Genie Christian 393.3 miles, 12.68 miles per day (This is the approximately the distance from the Alabama state line to Panama City Beach!)

The CNP staff won the step challenge over the Custodial Staff at HHS.  As a result of the Walktober challenge, you can now catch employees such as Cheryl Joynt on the Patriot Path during her break-walking laps instead of sitting down.  You can also catch Kitty Morgan and Angela McKenzie walking on the Shades Creek Greenway before clocking in to work. Another great example of how Walktober made an impact was a report I got from SCES.  One of our participants asked her class to remind her to "MOVE" if she had been sitting for an extended time frame.  The students in her class got a great lesson on the powerful message from "The Movement".  We are all in this together!  Keep Moving!

Congrats to all participants.  If you have a pedometer, you may keep that as your reward for participating.  Continue to take steps toward wellness.

Keep Moving.
