One Week Until......

Patriot Point Challenge begins on September 6th!  I will be meeting with the Patriot Pack Leaders Tuesday afternoon to plan our year, introduce new incentives for success and unveil the Movement Medal individual award system.  We will continue with the Patriot Point Challenge, which means you will begin documenting your training hours to report in to your Patriot Pack leaders each week.  First report period will be September 6 thru Sunday, September 11th- Points due September 12.  We will have a much easier scoring system this year, one Patriot Point for each hour of training.

Zumba Update from Marta Parker:  I have spoken with Joe (manager) and he said  that Riviera Fitness is offering a one week free pass!  If you have a spouse or friends from other school systems, they will also be able to take advantage of this offer.  FYI...I teach Zumba there on Tuesdays 6:30-7:30 and Saturdays from 10:45-11:45.  Another instructor, Audra, teaches on Thursdays at 6:30 also.  I hope you will come see us! MP

Dance Trance Update from Melissa Dameron Vines:  Dance Trance is a dance fitness program for adults that incorporates fun choreography with contemporary music of all genres. We consider our program a dance experience, or dance therapy, depending on the day. :)  To inspire you to come out to our studio and to get involved with the Movement program, we are offering all Homewood employees a 15% discount on membership packages. Feel free to take a look at our website, rockyourbodystudio.com, for more information, or talk to me.  As a teacher, our brain works 24/7, which can exhaust us mentally, emotionally, and physically. Dance Trance has been an outlet for me since 1993, and I can't imagine not having it in my life.  I agree with Nivada that in order to keep moving, you have to get moving.  I hope to see you on the dance floor.    MDV

Yogalates Update from Alida Hodge:  Classes will be offered at HHS!  Details and schedule coming soon! AH

Tap Dance Update from Mary Jane Coker and Jennifer Ayers:  Special Movement option-Learn to tap dance with MJ.  Character shoes offered by Jennifer Ayers.  Email MJ if you are interested.

Basketball Update from Dexter LeBlanc:  WE NEED YOU!  Tuesday mornings 6am.  Please email Nivada to let us know you are coming.  Last week, we had 3 on 3, we need to RUN!

Spin update from SpinSpur:  Get to class for a 400 calorie burn.  Here is what you missed last week:  "Inspiration/Motivation during Perspiration"-Interval Ride and "Reach the Summitt-Honoring Pat Summitt":  Live each day to the fullest-Strength Ride.  Next week Spin classes will be Monday 3:30-4:00 and 4:00-4:30, Wednesday 4:00-4:45, and Friday morning Superspinners at 6am-6:45

Last but not least our first system-wide event will be Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, October 15th at Linn Park in Downtown Birmingham.  Training programs and teams will be available starting September 6.  This is a walker friendly event and a very motivational experience.

Keep Moving,
