The first step to winning is to SHOW UP!  HCS employees are the reigning BCC Champions.   This year we must have a large percentage of our employees participating to have a shot at back to back titles.  You don't have to be skilled, if you can walk-you can help out our team.  The events are broken down into skilled events (think dodgeball, golf etc.) and participation events (like 1 mile walk, 5K run/walk, bike stroll and jump rope).

RECORD BREAKING YEAR! 2016 WLHwd 5K and Fun Run=600+ participants

We LOVE Homewood

I don't know who thought of the title of our day to celebrate our city but they had amazing insight into how the community actually feels about our small town.  Over 600 runners and walkers participated in the We Love Homewood 5K and Little Patriot Fun Run.  It was a record-breaking year which included more participation and the addition of the Spirit Of the Streets, neighborhood spirit contest, added even more excitement to our 5K.  Neighbors came out early with decorations, cheering, a screaming electric guitar (Thank you Laeri!), banjos (Thank you Mr. Tedrow/Hwd Music), a live rock band (Thank you Indian Summer) and so much more!  I'll be posting pics collected by Rebecca Shields who organized golf cart photographers along the course, Scott Butler who is always everywhere taking pics and would love to have your pics also.  Feel free to email them to me our share on our We Love Homewood 5K Facebook page.  Share the love....

While we were celebrating our city our track teams were competing and WINNING a state title and runner up title.  #welovehwd

Mr. Pence was selected as the "Quality of Life" recipient and awarded the Key to the City from Mayor McBrayer.  #welovehwd

What a day, what a weekend and a great reason to celebrate.

We Love Homewood WEEK

Loving Homewood is easy to do.  Everyone who is a part of our city can easily find something that is reason to celebrate.  Anyone who knows anything about our city understands that a HUGE part of what makes Homewood easy to love is the school system.  A great way to celebrate that success is We Love Homewood Day.  I've been promoting the We Love Homewood 5K for a few weeks and YES.. there is still time to register online through Thursday or on site at packet pick-up from 3PM to 6PM at Homewood Recreation Center.  Hopefully, you will decide to start your day with the 5K walk/run.  Even if you don't make it to the 5K, you should make an effort to check out the We Love Homewood Festival in the Park.  Arts and crafts, food and beverage, entertainment from HHS band, a silent auction, a parade, a street dance and a free concert near Edgewood Creamery by Chevy 6!

This is the final week of the PPC.  Bragging rights for PPC Year 6 will be decided by the team who has the most points on the big scoreboard after We Love Homewood 5K.
