Patriot Point Challenge and Personal Accomplishments

Monday, December 13th final Spin, one final BIG Scorboard Competition!  Thru 10 weeks of BIG Scoreboard Competition the totals are:

Shades Cahaba   31, Edgewood 13, Hall Kent 24, HMS 10 , HHS 34, HBOE 41

Each week, your team can earn up 6 points by winning the weekly point challenge.  Monday is a huge competition.  5 Big Scoreboard points.  HHS could pull within 2 pts of HBOE, Shades could pass HHS, Hall Kent could get within 2 points of Shades.  Edgewood and HMS are fighting to win every point possible to close the gap.    While the competition is fun and challenging, the biggest wins of our Patriot Point Challenge are the personal accomplishments along the way.  Edgewood's Carrie Baguley finishing a half-marathon,  HMS's Robbie Gibbons and Coach Poe training for the Mercedes Relay, Hall Kent's Pamela Muchiri training for a marathon, Shades Cahaba's Beth Gladney for running a 10K and HBOE's Mike Hathorne for completing an endurance race in Kentucky.  HHS is so excited about one of our very own Movement participants.  Here are the results of her efforts so far this school year:

Weight loss= 13.4 lbs, Cholesterol reduced from 234 to 215.  Those are life changing numbers.  The Patriot Point Challenge is a trophy, a competition and some fun.  Reducing cholesterol, losing weight taking care of yourself is the most important trophy!  What is your trophy?  What is your personal competition?  "Winners are just ex-losers who got mad."  Enjoy your time with family and friends this holiday season.  Make a lifestyle change that will ensure MANY more holiday seasons

The Mission ISpossible!

Student Spin classes are given a "Mission" for each ride during Physical Education.  This week our Mission was to burn 500 calories  as calculated by heart rate monitors-that's high intensity pedaling!  This intense ride coincides with the HCS Mission Statement:   EMPOWER EACH..... Feeling empowered comes from intrinsic motivation supported by outside sources.  The first step to feeling empowered is to have a goal, create a plan for your work and then work your plan!  Fitness, nutrition and a healthy lifestyle will assist in your ability to "reach your potential" no matter what your goal may be.

Schedule for Spin next week:  Tuesday 6am-6:45am!  Friday 6am-6:45am.  Expect emails from your instructors if other classes will be adjusted.  I will be assisting with the Strategic Plan process so no afternoon classes Monday or Tuesday.  Happy Veterans Day Thursday.

Plan your work, work your plan.
